    In this paper, we will estimate an upper bound for the similarity degree of the crossed product of a hyperfinite finite von Neumann algebra by weakly compact action of an infinite discrete group. We will also improve some upper bounds for similarity degrees of some finite von Neumann algebras.

    In this paper, it is shown that there is a gap in the paper [Chidume, C. E., Shahzad, N.: Weak convergence theorems for a finite family of strict pseudo-contractions. Nonlinear Anal., 72, 1257-1265 (2010)], consequently, the main results of the paper do not hold in uniformly smooth Banach spaces. Meanwhile, it is also shown that the main results (Lemma 3.4, Theorems 3.5-3.6, 3.8-3.9) in the paper [Cholamjiak, P., Suantai, S.: Weak convergence theorems for a countable family of strict pseudo-contractions in Banach spaces. Fixed Point Theory Appl., 2010, Article ID 632137, 16 pages (2010)] do not hold in Lp for p > 3. Finally, some modified results are presented in the setting of uniformly smooth and uniformly convex Banach spaces which include Lp for p ≥ 2 as special cases. Furthermore, our arguments are also different from the ones given by the authors above.

    We study asymmetric atomic selfish routing in ring networks, which has diverse practical applications in network design and analysis. We are concerned with minimizing the maximum latency of source-destination node-pairs over links with linear latencies. We show that there exists an optimal solution that is a 9-approximate Nash equilibrium, significantly improving the existing upper bound of 54 on the instability factor. We present fast implementation of the best response dynamics for computing a Nash equilibrium. Furthermore, we perform empirical study on the price of stability, narrowing the gap between the lower and upper bounds to 0.7436.

    In this paper, we prove the following result: Let f(z) be a transcendental entire function, Q(z0 be a small function of f(z), and n ≥ 2 be a positive integer. If fn(z) and (fn(z))' share Q(z) CM, then f(z) = ce(1/n)z, where c is a nonzero constant. This result extends Lv's result from the case of polynomial to small entire function.

    A Hilbert space operator T is said to have property (ω1) if σa(T)\σaw(T) ⊆ π00(T), where σa(T) and σaw(T) denote the approximate point spectrum and the Weyl essential approximate point spectrum of T respectively, and π00(T) = {λ ∈ iso σ(T), 0 < dim N(T-λ I) < ∞}. If σa(T)\σaw(T) = π00(T), we say T satisfies property (ω). In this note, we investigate the stability of the property (ω1) and the property (ω) under compact perturbations, and we characterize those operators for which the property (ω1) and the property (ω) are stable under compact perturbations.

    We consider the scattering of Cauchy problem for the focusing combined power-type Schrödinger equation. In the spirit of concentration-compactness method, we will show that, H1 solution will scatter under some condition on its energy and mass. We adapt some variance argument, following the idea of Ibrahim-Masmoudi-Nakanishi.

    The scattering problem for the Klein-Gordon equation with cubic convolution nonlinearity is considered. Based on the Strichartz estimates for the inhomogeneous Klein-Gordon equation, we prove the existence of the scattering operator, which improves the known results in some sense.

    F-test is the most popular test in the general linear model. However, there is few discussions on the robustness of F-test under the singular linear model. In this paper, the necessary and sufficient conditions of robust F-test statistic are given under the general linear models or their partition models, which allows that the design matrix has deficient rank and the covariance matrix of error is a nonnegative definite matrix with parameters. The main results obtained in this paper include the existing findings of the general linear model under the definite covariance matrix. The usage of the theorems is illustrated by an example.

    This paper concerns the square-mean almost periodic mild solutions to a class of abstract nonautonomous functional integro-differential stochastic evolution equations in a real separable Hilbert space. By using the so-called "Acquistapace-Terreni" conditions and the Banach fixed point theorem, we establish the existence, uniqueness and the asymptotical stability of square-mean almost periodic solutions to such nonautonomous stochastic differential equations. As an application, almost periodic solution to a concrete nonautonomous stochastic integro-differential equation is considered to illustrate the applicability of our abstract results.
