We give a general setting for constructing a Weierstrass representation formula for simply connected minimal surfaces in a Riemannian manifold. Then,we construct examples of minimal surfaces in the three dimensional Heisenberg group and in the product of the hyperbolic plane with the real line.

The centers of the polynomial differential systems with a linear center perturbed by homogeneous polynomials have been studied for the degrees s=2,3,4,5.They are completely classified for s=2,3,and partially classified for s=4,5.In this paper we recall these results for s=2,3,4,5,and we give new centers for s=6,7

Some new continuous selection theorems are first proved in noncompact topological spaces. As applications, some new collectively fixed point theorems and coincidence theorems for two families of set-valued mappings defined on product space of noncompact topological spaces are obtained under very weak assumptions. These results generalize many known results in recent literature.

In this work we study the spectral counting function for the p-Laplace operator in one dimension. We show the existence of a two-term Weyl-type asymptote. The method of proof is rather elementary, based on the Dirichlet lattice points problem, which enables us to obtain similar results for domains of infinite measure.

Bifurcations of a degenerate homoclinic orbit with orbit flip in high dimensional system are studied.By establishing a local coordinate system and a Poincarü map near the homoclinic orbit, the existence and uniqueness of 1-homoclinic orbit and 1-periodic orbit are given. Also considered is the existence of 2-homoclinic orbit and 2-periodic orbit. In additon, the corresponding bifurcation surfaces are given.

Let p be an odd prime. In this paper we introduce a quadratic linear Fp -algebra Q1 obtained by suitably changing the generators of Q,the homogeneous quadratic algebra of cohomology operations in the category of H-ring spectra, and study the map induced on cohomology by the quotient

Like in the case p=2,it turns out that is injective. Thus, its target contains the E2-term of the classical Adams spectral sequence as subalgebra. An explicit description of is given under the reasonable assumption on Q to be a Koszul algebra.

The operator sets, which are the subject of this paper, have been studied in many papers where, under different restrictions on the generating operators, convexity, compactness in the weak operator topology, and nonemptiness were proved for sets of different classes under study. Then the results obtained were used in these papers to solve several applied problems.Namely, they played the key role in establishing the dichotomy of nonautonomous dynamical systems, with either continuous or discrete time.In the present paper,we generalize and sharpen the already known criteria and obtain several new criteria for convexity, compactness, and nonemptiness of several special operator sets. Then, using the assertions obtained,we construct examples of sets of the form under study which are nonconvex, noncompact in the weak operator topology,as well as empty, and are generated by “smooth” operators of a special class. The existence problem for such sets remained open until the authors of this paper announced some of its results.

An ordered pair (e,f) of idempotents of a regular semigroup is called a skew pair if ef is not idempotent whereas fe is idempotent. We have shown previously that there are four distinct types of skew pairs of idempotents. Here we investigate the ubiquity of such skew pairs in full transformation semigroups.

In this paper,we obtain results on precise large deviations for non-random and random sums of negatively associated nonnegative random variables with common dominatedly varying tail distribution function. We discover that, under certain conditions, three precise large-deviation probabilities with different centering numbers are equivalent to each other.Furthermore,we investigate precise large deviations for sums of negatively associated nonnegative random variables with certain negatively dependent occurrences. The obtained results extend and improve the corresponding results of Ng,Tang,Yan and Yang (J.Appl.Prob.,41,93-107,2004).

A G-Frobenius graph Γ,as defined by Fang,Li,and Praeger,is a connected orbital graph of a Frobenius group G=K H with Frobenius kernel K and Frobenius complement H.Γ is also shown to be a Cayley graph,Γ=Cay(K,S) for K and some subset S of the group K.On the other hand,a network N with a routing function R,written as (N,R),is an undirected graph N together with a routing R which consists of a collection of simple paths connecting every pair of vertices in the graph. The edge-forwarding index π(N) of a network (N,R),defined by Heydemann,Meyer, and Sotteau,is a parameter to describe the maximum load of edges of N.In this paper,we study the edge-forwarding indices of Frobenius graphs. In particular,we obtain the edge-forwarding index of a G-Frobenius graph Γ with rank(G)≤50.

The measure of non-compactness is estimated from below for various operators, including the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator, the fractional maximal operator and the Hilbert transform, all acting between weighted Lebesgue spaces. The identity operator acting between weighted Lebesgue spaces and also between the counterparts of these spaces with variable exponents is similarly analysed. These results enable the lack of compactness of such operators to be quantified.
